Oliver Carter is a Reader in Creative Economies at Birmingham City University’s Birmingham Centre for Media and Cultural Research.
He is interested in how technology can help business and how the media can be regulated.
His study into the pornography business in Britain led to the award-winning documentary series Sexposed and the second episode of the BBC show Bent Coppers: Crossing the Line of Duty, which will air in 2021.
His most recent book, Under the Counter: Britain’s Trade in Hardcore Pornographic 8mm Films, came out in 2023, and he is currently working on a second volume.
