LOS ANGELES—GayVN Award-nominated performer Roman Mercury has passed away at the age of 45, fellow performer and close friend Greg Dixxon recently revealed on X.
“With profound sadness, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of [Roman Mercury],” reads Dixxon’s February 27 post. “Roman left us unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of passion, talent, and kindness that touched the lives of so many around the world.”
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Mercury was regarded as a rising star in the gay adult industry.
Having been nominated for his first two GayVN Awards this past January, he broke into adult content creation through platforms like OnlyFans during the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 with the support of his husband, per The Independent. He grew a prolific following on JustFor.fans as well.
As Out reports, Dixxon told the outlet that Mercury passed due to a “hypertensive cardiovascular disease, meaning he suffered from a heart attack.”
“Although his physical heart had issues, his spiritual heart always shined by helping others,” Dixxon said in an interview with Out reporter Bernardo Sim. “I’d like to believe that he is now in the heavens back with his husband.”
Dixxon alludes to the passing of Mercury’s husband that occurred the year before. Dixxon said Mercury was “crushed” at the loss at the time and that “Roman was very persistent, intelligent, and organized.”
Mercury had begun emerging as a marquee talent recently, starring alongside Dixxon in the multiple GayVN Award-nominated 2024 release Executive Order, a co-production between major gay studios Raging Stallion and MenAtPlay.
The movie is currently up for Best All-Sex Movie at the 2025 Grabbys America award show in Chicago.
He worked for a number of other popular studios as well since his 2022 debut, including RawFuckClub and Pantheon Productions.
“To his fans, friends, and loved ones, we know how deeply [Roman] was admired,” added Dixxon’s tribute on X.
“As a creator and actor, his energy and spirit will forever live on. Though his time with us was far too short, his impact will never fade. His family will spread his ashes in the ocean near his favorite place to live in Southern California. Roman, you will always be missed, but never forgotten.”
