TORREMOLINOS, Spain—Grabbys Europe on Wednesday announced the resolution of a recent legal dispute concerning the event’s trademark.
Following the conclusion of legal proceedings, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) has upheld Grabbys Europe’s claim, ruling that two trademark applications filed by Cesar Jesus Hernando Villalba were registered in bad faith and have been officially annulled.
With this SPTO ruling, the full ownership of the Grabbys trademark has been reinstated.
Hernando had previously attempted to register two trademarks related to Grabbys. However, the SPTO confirmed that these filings were not made in good faith.
The Grabbys brand has faced malicious takedowns of its official social media accounts, and efforts are now underway to pursue appropriate action to address these issues, says a spokesperson.
“Grabbys Europe deeply regrets the unnecessary confusion caused by Mr. Hernando’s bad-faith trademark application,” explains the spokesperson. “We sincerely apologize to all those affected within our industry.”
The spokesperson adds, “Grabbys Europe remains committed to safeguarding its brand identity and ensuring that its digital presence is protected against malicious actions. The resolution of this dispute serves as a testament to our dedication to upholding fairness and authenticity within the industry and continuing to strengthen our reputation, built through years of dedication to the gay community. We would like to thank our legal team and supporters for their unwavering commitment throughout this process.”
