Jamey Bell is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner and is the Medical Director of the Sexual Health Program at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, the largest facility in the world providing health and social services to the LGBTQ+ community.
Jamey also serves as Medical Director of PASS, the non-profit organization dedicated to the health and safety of adult industry workers.
Jamey joined PASS’s board of directors in 2021 and was appointed Medical Director in September 2023. He is a firm supporter of sex workers’ rights as well as safe and accessible healthcare for people in the adult industry.
Jamey, who has over 20 years of experience in healthcare, focuses on social justice in healthcare for underprivileged people. He blends professional expertise with compassion and concern for his patients and community.
Jamey has master’s degrees in nursing and Community Health and graduated with honors from Ball State University in Indiana.
He holds board certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
In April 2011, the Free Speech Coalition established PASS to expand on a prior program to standardize and supervise adult industry testing.
PASS collaborates with organizations that test for STIs and/or other infectious diseases in the United States and Canada, and they subsequently send work clearance data to their database.
In May 2021, PASS began operating as its own entity.
The PASS database solely holds binary yes/no ‘work clearance’ data; no individual test results are uploaded to the PASS system.
Clinical staff with suitable licenses at the testing partner determine work clearance based on the testing panel’s results.
The testing methodology specifies nine separate tests for seven STIs.
The clearance is valid for 14 days from the date of the first sample collection.
