GENEVA—Advertising network JuicyAds has successfully defended its brand and intellectual property rights in a recent domain dispute case ruled by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
In the WIPO Case, the panel ordered the transfer of the domain name juicyads.blog to JuicyAds after determining that it was registered and used in bad faith by a third-party scammer based in Peru.
The respondent used the domain to mimic the JuicyAds platform, impersonate support channels and promote association with JuicyAds for the purpose of misleading potential victims for profit. Evidence included unauthorized use of the JuicyAds trademark and logo, a fake campaign management area, and solicitation of payments to use the service. The respondent had been previously terminated from the legitimate JuicyAds service for sending fraudulent traffic.
“This decision is a strong reminder that we will pursue and take down any entity infringing on our intellectual property or attempting to mislead our clients and partners,” said Juicy Jay, founder of JuicyAds. “Our clients rely on the integrity of our brand, and we are fully committed to protecting them from imposters and scams.”
“The evidence showcased such egregious use by the respondent that it was a slam-dunk case,” stated Corey Silverstein, lead counsel representing JuicyAds and founder of Silverstein Legal. “This wasn’t a borderline dispute; it was a blatant case of brand impersonation and fraud. The respondent didn’t just register a confusingly similar domain; they actively used JuicyAds’ trademark, logo and interface to deceive users, solicit payments and undermine the integrity of the brand. The panel recognized the severity of the abuse and ruled decisively in JuicyAds’ favor.”
Founded in 2006, JuicyAds is a well-established brand in the advertising industry with trademark protection in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the European Union. The WIPO panel found that the domain juicyads.blog was identical to the registered JuicyAds trademark and had been used to intentionally mislead users for profit using the brand’s reputation.
JuicyAds encourages anyone who comes across suspicious communications or websites impersonating the brand to report them immediately.
